Long Time No See

Hi all,

Long time no see. Sorry for the very late update. My computer had been down and sent back to factory for repair. (Luckily still under warranty). As if right now, I am actually using my housemate's computer to update my blog.

Life without computer is indeed the worst thing that can happen to 'cyberspace' people like me. This suffering is not describable by words. For now, I can only hope the computer will come back as soon as possible.

Longer updates will then follow. Stay tuned. Haha

To Do Lists

I recently did something that a lot of people that know me will not believe I will do. I dyed my hair to dark brown. Haha. Finally I get to do the things that I wanted to do since long time ago.

Next, I plan to do skydiving and bungee jump. Will I have the courage? I hope I have. Haha.

Then? Who knows? Haha.

Friendship

Friendship is very important especially to people like me who is studying in a foreign country. Close friends are the person you turn to when you need help. Family is just too far away. For that, I value friendship much more than last time.

However, at the same time, I do expect more from friends. Since you put in more effort in maintaining friendship, you would also want the return to be at least equal if not greater. From here, I also discovered how fragile friendship can be.

Friends forever. That's what we usually hear people saying. But does friendship really last forever? Some do, but not all survived. It is like a plant growing in a greenhouse. It requires care and love to grow healthily. This process is continuous and thus the plant will grow stronger day by day. However, before it reaches a critical point, where it is so strong to be considered to be your best friend, a simple mistake can kill the plant (referring to friendship if you are lost).

For me, sometimes it is those tiny little things that people usually ignore that is affecting a friendship. For example, some friends do not realise they have gone overboard with their jokes, some might gossiping about you behind your back (but did not carry out discreetly enough till you actually know them) or some might just simply choose the wrong time to disturb you which irritates you.

In my opinion, friendship that can last for long time require trust from both side. Without trust, one will not go very far in that friendship. When one friend start to be suspicious about the other, and start to hold secret, the other one will simply do the same. From there, the light of that friendship will become dimmer as time goes by. Is it difficult to trust someone? Yeah, in this 21st century, people are becoming increasingly complicated. Therefore, I really appreciate my best friends that I still managed to keep until now. I do hope they can continue to last forever.

Thank you for reading this boring post. Just been thinking a lot lately.

Solar Eclipse

I love astronomy for a long time already. But this is the first time I have the chance to seriously observe a solar eclipse. It happened in January during the first day of Chinese New Year. What a coincidence! Haha.

Only remember about posting it up when reviewing the photos today. Just have a look. For those who have no idea what am I talking about, please feel free to read this article: Solar Eclipse.

Since in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia we can only observe Partial Solar Eclipse, this is the moment when the climax of the event is taking place. It is quite dim thanks to the clouds which allows me to take this photo without protective film.

This photo is taken with 4 layers of photo film, thus resulting in red colour of the sun. The solar eclipse is about to end.

Swimming

Today has been a wonderful day for me. For the first time of my life, I took out the courage to learn swimming. I must thank my instructor cum my best friend, Jason for teaching me swimming. It's really a wonderful experience.

2 new things in one day. First is swimming, then is sauna. It was really really hot. But again, nice experience. Of course I can't swim after just 1 day, floating also cannot. However, I promise myself to seriously learn swimming and set this as my biggest target of the year. Gambate!

Singing

Recently I had found a new hobby, or should I call it a habit. I can't stop myself from singing when I am alone in my room. Haha.

I just love to sing, any song will do, particularly Cantonese songs. Just want to further improve my Cantonese. It is so relaxing, so fun and so enjoyable.

The End.

Award Ceremony

Before I start this article, I must stress that the purpose that I write this article is not to boast myself or contains any other means to say that I am good. I am writing this just to share my feeling about the ceremony. If you feel otherwise, please refrain from reading the following article. Thanks.

The Name Tag

I am indeed surprised and honoured to be invited to receive the Dean's Award for the Faculty of Engineering this year. Come on, people who know me well for the past year know what kind of person I am. I watch movie, drama series and sleep a lot. In lecture, I don't seems to be paying a lot of attention also. Falling asleep is like my second job while in lecture. Therefore, when I received the mail inviting me to this award presentation, I was totally stunned. There are so many more smart people out there, why me?

Inside the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) before the ceremony

Yesterday the ceremony was finally held. It is the first western style formal ceremony that I ever attended. Needless to say, I was very impressed by the way the ceremony going. It is so smooth and without glitches. It is indeed a wonderful experience shared together with one of my best friends in Sydney, Leon who is also receiving the Dean's Award. It is such a wonderful feeling to share this happiness together.

Leon and me after the presentation ceremony

After the ceremony, it was followed by the light refreshment. Finally, the scene that I only get to watch in movie is presented well in front of me. Champagne, red and white wine, juices and waiter serving food around the foyer. People chatting around, taking photos and making interaction with different people. There is no separation of classes. The VIP can easily interact with students without any barrier in between. There is no special zone separated for the VIP, I kinda love this kind of idea.

Leon and me with the Head of School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

Maybe some of you out there will think this is nothing, you have been through this for countless of time. But for me, it is something big and new. I will treat this as an experience of a lifetime, as I would never aim for this kind of award again next year. Just pure luck.

Maroubra Beach Experience

Today I went to Maroubra Beach. Had a weird experience.

I was pointing my camera towards the sea. A woman (quite old) being too sensitive, thought that my friend and I are trying to take her photo. And she starts to scream at us, "DON'T TAKE MY PHOTO!" for several times. Actually I was just shooting the sea and the sky, not even having the sand in my camera.

To avoid any unhappy incident, we decided to move away from that woman. She just keep on shouting and shouting even as we walked away and already a very far distance from her. Interestingly, although they are quite a lot of people at the beach, no one seems to be attracted by her screams. She continues to scream hysterically until we are out of sights from her. -.-|||

That's it, apart from this, it's a nice day at the beach with all the strong winds blowing... :-)

Sing K

Today I went out to City to sing karaoke with my Hong Kong friends. It is such a nice experience. In there, I challenge myself to sing Cantonese songs, something that I would not do one year ago.

Everyone changes over time, I believe I should too. I should not let something that I don't know become an obstacle for me to try it. This time, I really throw everything I know instead of keeping them deep inside my heart. In this way, one can train their confidence as well as acquire a new skill, for my case, a dialect.

I wondering, why I never try to learn to speak Cantonese while I was younger. Come on, I am from Kuala Lumpur, a place where majority of the Chinese speak Cantonese as the main dialect apart from Mandarin. It is a shame that I could not even complete a sentence before that. Nevertheless, it's always not too late to start learning.

So people, let's learn something that we always wanted to, don't waste the opportunity. It is never too late to start learning new things!

Back to Sydney

Now that I am back. Have been busy in finding new home. I have no confidence in staying in my old house now after the incident last year. Hopefully I will be able to settle down as quickly as possible.

Will be busy for the next few days. After that, will still be busy. Hehe.. Till then.. Bye.

24 Hours to Go...

Still, things happen. I had been under a lot of mental stress lately. What make things worse, some people just would not appreciate the time spent together. Within 24 hours to my departure back to Sydney, new problems are created.

Regret.

Trips

I recently thought back about trip. I mean personal trip to a certain place. I remember how I actually asked my parents to let me go on a school trip.

I was standard six. The school is organising a school trip to Sarawak. I asked my parents to let me go as most of my friends are going for this graduation trip. My parents rejected me with various reasons. I was so pissed off. I cried and ignore them for few days. At last, they gave in. I get to go. But, it was too late, the group was full. No more place. I was so so sad.

8 years later, I get my 'revenge'. Haha. I get to go Hong Kong. A personal trip also. I believe this is like a compensation to what I had lost back then. The trip is so fantastic and I believe I should dedicate a post for it later. What I am thinking is, sometimes in life, when you missed a thing, there might be a chance in the future to get it, but it might not come also. So, we must not let the chance to do something leave our hands. Grab it while we can!!!

P.s. I never been to Sarawak until now. Neither I been to Sabah. And these are parts of my regret.

Happy Birthday, Sister!

I wish you a very happy birthday. Although you might be sad that I am leaving you soon, but think positively, I still get to celebrate your birthday with you, here, this year.

Be happy always...

96 hours to go...

I am so fed up here. I just cannot wait to get away from my house. That's why the countdown post exists......

Family and House

Don't know since when, I start to have the feeling that I do not want to stay in the house anymore. Staying in the house only bring lots of unnecessary conflicts and arguments. Family is important, but, staying together is not a necessity.

Maybe because one year in Australia provided me lots of freedom. I can do virtually anything without the need to explain. I will bear the responsibility of my own acts. But then, staying in home again, the restrictions came back.

I must say I grew in an environment without freedom, and I hated it. The sudden arrival of freedom did bring me some shock. I am not used to it. But after I make myself confortable to the situation where I know how to manage my freedom, I fall back to a place where my freedom is once again restricted.

Living under the same roof does spark a lot of problems. I am counting down the days I am heading back to Australia, and look forward to it. I will miss my family, but not the house.

A Gathering

Today, I had a short but enjoyable gathering with my secondary schoolmates. It was nice to see how each other had chosen their own path for the future. I am not writing these to share the conversation that took place today. But rather, I am writing to share the thoughts I have after the gathering.

Once upon a time, we were the top students in the class. There were endless fights to see who will the number in the class, and hence the whole form. Those were the days when we will compare our marks after each exam, just to see who get the highest marks. We will even jolt down each other marks for record, just to make the job of comparing each other marks easier afterwards. Those were the days when we will be very careful on what we will do, just to prevent others from getting higher scores. For example, if one have some particular tips for the coming test, he / she will not hesitate to keep it for himself / herself. On hindsight, this kind of mentality is so selfish. Something that I will not do nowadays.

What sparks my idea for this post is, as we meet again today after so many years, we did mention back about what we had done those days. Suddenly, we have the consensus that those acts are so pointless. What's the point of winning someone when studying is suppose to be meant for yourself. Not to win, not to impress anyone, not to gain scholarship, not to please your parents, but for your own knowledge. Gaining knowledge while we still can will provide us an opportunity to know more things, to think more maturely, that's suppose to be the way we study.

As for now, studying to me is just for myself. I study for my own improvements, and with that, I send regards to everyone out there who is studying, study smart, study hard to improve yourself! Till we meet again. Bye!

Reboot...

Less than a month I announce the temporarily closure of my blog, I always have a feeling that I lost something. It's like suddenly I fall short of a channel to speak out what is inside my thought. Therefore, I came to the decision that I shall still make good use of my blog to tell my story, despite the fact that I might do it less frequently.

Something must have happen to make me spawn the thought of rebooting my blog. In fact, yes, this incident happened just on the second day of Chinese New Year. Let's switch the language.

Well, what exactly had happened? I don't think I should mention it here. But one thing for sure, it had done enough damage to my inner heart. I am not Iron Man, my heart is made from flesh and blood. If somebody stab it once, it can heal; but what if that person continuously stab it for 10 years, even it heal, there will be lots of scars, which will exists forever, till the day I am gone forever.

For now, I think this is enough. Just venting some anger that accumulated in my heart for the past few weeks. See you all soon. Thanks for reading this. Bye!

Temporarily Closure

With regret I announce the temporarily closure of my blog. I decided to focus my attention on something else in my life. Sadly, blogging had to give way. I would prefer to write quality article instead of randomly generating articles which have no quality. Till we meet again, take care everyone.
